[Member] July 7, 2013 Share July 7, 2013 Hi guys, since converted fonts render more jagged edges, I'd like to find some of these original webfont releases: Soho, Soho Gothic, Gotham, Proxima Nova and Futura. Proxima Nova: Filled by Parv in another thread, thanks! Futura: Filled by Blazerman in here, thanks! If anyone is sure they have one of these original purchased versions, I'd be !! Thanks in advance! [Member] July 7, 2013 Author Share July 7, 2013 Awesome, thanks! Here are my gotham v2.2 originals in OTF http://ge.tt/1MSqN9l/v/0 , but you say converted, they would still be converted versions, instead of the original webfont version Hoefler has released? [Member] July 7, 2013 Share July 7, 2013 Any webfonts are converted & generated at runtime from the original OTF/TTF, using python/php & zlib engine . So are sold in the same ways by any web-fonts selling websites.. Have the same engine coded in C++, So it works in generating & converting them offline... instead of buying Here you go with Gotham | 8 x WOFF & 8 x EOT GothamPro-Black.eot GothamPro-Black.woff GothamPro-Bold.eot GothamPro-Bold.woff GothamPro-Book.eot GothamPro-Book.woff GothamPro-Light.eot GothamPro-Light.woff GothamPro-Medium.eot GothamPro-Medium.woff GothamPro-Thin.eot GothamPro-Thin.woff GothamPro-Ultra.eot GothamPro-Ultra.woff GothamPro-XLight.eot GothamPro-XLight.woff http://ge.tt/8ISQQ9l/v/0 Cheers n Keep njoying goodies for web for "ZERO" i,e Say no to buying webfonts.. [Member] July 7, 2013 Author Share July 7, 2013 I see, so what's the difference with your way of converting and say online services like fontsquirrel? Also, I think this certainly isn't the case with Gotham, they have another version called Gotham Screensmart, for webuse up to 9pt. They were redone from the ground up: http://www.typography.com/fonts/gotham/webfonts/gothamssm-book http://www.typography.com/cloud/the-fonts/index.php#ssm-concept
[Member] July 7, 2013 Share July 7, 2013 Mate Fontfetish, If buying webfonts suits yourside :) You are Always welcome to buy & share it with myside.. In that case i may learn more about the differences.. Cheers
[Member] July 7, 2013 Author Share July 7, 2013 Trust me I wont be buying them! Just saying what I've experienced is that fonts i converted myself online don't render as good, meaning jagged edges. Maybe this is due to missing css optimizations, I dont know but they never render as good. Also Gotham Screensmart seems to be rebuilt for webuse. [Member] July 8, 2013 Share July 8, 2013 Thanks (again) Bm for the hard work! My 2 cent now. I strongly encourage you NOT TO USE ANY unlicensed font as WF. Using online unpaid materials would be at your own risk (or your client). Risk is even bigger when it comes for fonts which are not officially available as WF (Gotham for instance). Using Gotham as WF means you (or your client) own a licence. It would very easy for HFJ to track these files (or you need to remove properly all tags and copyrights before use). It's even trickier with Hoefler's fonts as they are available to sell only as bundle. My advice: don't use Gotham as WF without removing all tags or change for Proxima Nova (close to Gotham and available as WF for each style) or a free alternative such as Raleway.
